Turkey Week

  This week we will be learning all about turkeys and the letter "Tt". Our color monster this week is, "Brown,Brown your jeans fell down". Turkey songs and movement, counting Thanksgiving items and turkey feathers, sequencing the life of a turkey and learning to make a simple pattern will be worked on this week. 

  The art center will have pumpkin pie play dough with rolling pins and pie tins. Art this week includes hand turkeys, spice turkeys, and feast invites. 

  Our FAMILY FEAST will be on Weds. Nov. 21, please meet us in the classroom at 10:45 and we will walk over to the hall at 11:00.

  Field Day is Friday,Nov. 30, I need each child to bring a plain white t-shirt to school.

Bats

This week is all about bats, we will introduce the vocabulary words, "nocturnal" and "echolocation". Bats can eat 1,200 insects per hour, that includes mosquitoes. Lately the children have been showing me their mosquito bites and we have discussed how the mosquito is not our favorite insect. Bats are the good guys.
The color monster this week is:"Black,black sat in a sack". The letter of the week is "Bb". Activities will include counting bats, bat color patterns, bat stories and bats to cut out and decorate. The book this week is "Stellaluna".

Go Away Big Green Monster!

This week will be activities and discussion about fantasy and reality. Play is one of the best ways to to deal with our fears. We will discover what scares us and if it is real or pretend.
The color monster of the week is: "Green,green is dancing Queen."
The letter of the week is "Gg" for green. 
Monster teeth will be counted and monsters will be matched. All kinds of monsters will be created in the art center. 
Green bean seeds will be started for our garden at preschool.
Check your child's cubbie for the co-op schedule.
I also would like Elmers glue in bottles, if your out and about I would appreciate some for the classroom.

Little Blue and Little Yellow

Welcome! This week is about blue and yellow. The color monster this week is: "Blue, blue is sick with flu." On Monday I read a story about little blue and little yellow, they are great friends. One day they ran into each other and turned green!
On Friday the children will be painting their own story about blue and yellow. Color mixing with play dough, paint and water will demonstrate how to make green.
I will give everyone through Friday to sign-up for October. The new schedule will come out on Monday.

Owl Week

Welcome to a new year of preschool. My class is amazing! I have realized I need to step things up for this group of learners. So far we have covered the letters, "Ff,Aa,and Oo". Last week was about apples and the color red. This week is about owls and the color yellow. Our color monsters so far: "Red,red go to bed" and "Yellow,yellow sat in jello".
We are reading the book,"Owl Babies" a wonderful story about three baby owls waiting for their mother to come back.
Today I sang the five minute song before we clean-up. I must have waited too long because one of the children came up to me and said, "When are you going to ring that bell so I can clean-up!".
Life is good!
